Janet J. Blanchette, PE

Principal Engineer

Janet received her undergraduate degrees from Penn State University in 1983 with a BS in Civil Engineering and a BA in General Arts and Sciences. She received her MS in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University in 1989. Prior to starting J&D, she worked for Hayden-Wegman Engineers in Boston, MA. Janet is a licensed Professional Engineer in Connecticut as well a Master Gardener. Her hobbies include hiking, kayaking, and growing unnecessarily hot peppers in her vegetable garden.

Dennis R. Blanchette, PE, LS

Principal Engineer and Surveyor

Dennis received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Connecticut with a BS in civil engineering in 1976 and an MS in civil engineering in 1980.  He worked for the Town of Waterford WPCA for 18 years prior to joining J&D in 1998. Dennis is a licensed professional engineer in CT and MA and a licensed surveyor in CT. In his spare time, Dennis enjoys traveling, writing travel stories, woodworking, gardening, hiking, skiing, riding motorcycles and attempting to play music.

Daniel D. Blanchette, PE

Professional Engineer

Daniel received his undergraduate degrees from the University of Connecticut in 2009 with a BS in Civil Engineering (structural)  and a BA in German. Prior to joining J&D in 2015,  he worked at  Pacific Structural & Forensic Group in Santa Barbara, CA,  the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics in Groton, CT. Daniel is a licensed professional engineer in CT. Outside of work, he can usually be found rock climbing, playing guitar, or spending way too much time lawn mowing.

John Bartolomei, LS

Professional Surveyor

John received his surveying degree from Paul Smiths College, and is a registered Land Surveyor in CT. He has over 30 years of diversified experience in route surveying, property surveying, aerial survey, tax mapping and construction layout. John is an avid hiker and runner, and just loves to be outside.

Alex St. Peter, L.S.I.T.

Land Survey Project Manager

Alex studied land surveying at Central Connecticut State University. He passed the Fundamentals Of Surveying (F.S.) exam and has earned his Land Surveyor In Training (L.S.I.T.) certification from the State Of Connecticut Department Of Consumer Protection. He is currently pursuing his land surveyor’s license by preparing to take the Principles And Practice Of Surveying (P.S.) exam. He is a wizard with electronic devices and loves to read in his spare time.

Community Service

J&D is proud to be a part of the local community of the Quiet Corner. Our employees serve on local boards and have volunteered their time with such efforts as plantings along the French River, water quality monitoring on the Quinebaug River, coaching youth sports, roadside trash pickup, etc. Janet currently serves as Chairman of the Mill Sites Redevelopment Advisory Committee, which is making great progress toward redeveloping the old mills in Thompson and bringing new infrastructure, such as sidewalks, to support developers’ efforts.

We have also donated surveying and engineering services to a number of local projects including:

  • Surveying and Mapping for the Ragged Mountain Foundation – Southington, CT
