Our office is located at 401 Ravenelle Road in North Grosvenordale, CT. It is a large red Cape style house, and the office entrance is to the left of the garage and upstairs. Although our normal office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, we encourage you to call before coming over. We are a small company, and can only meet with one client at a time.

    Engineering Office Assistant Job Description – August 2022

    We are looking for a part time (15-20 hours per week) employee to handle a wide variety of tasks ranging from administrative to technical. The distribution of the workload is about 50% administrative and 50% technical. The hours are flexible within the hours of 7:00-4:00 weekdays. The position requires analytic thinking, knowledge of WORD, and EXCEL, good map reading skills, as well as good computational and geometry skills. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner who is dependable, hard working and not allergic to cats. We are willing to train a candidate with the appropriate aptitude for and commitment to the work.

    Administrative Work:

    • Assist with client billing
    • Order office supplies
    • Copy and/or plot documents including large plans
    • Fill out transmittal letters, address envelopes, apply postage and mail
    • Filing, including scanning old files
    • Answer phones, communicate with clients and take messages
    • Make deliveries of plans to Town Halls
    • Prepare PDFs of engineering plans and email to clients
    • Prepare certified mailings

    Technical Work:

    • AutoCAD Drafting and plan preparation:
    •                     Search online sites to obtain soil data, topography, etc.
    •                    Insert and scale data into CAD plans          
    • Draft plans
    • Office Engineering/Survey:
    • Search municipal land records and download public data like assessors’ records, deeds, and plans
    • Research deeds and maps at Town halls
    • Set up points in CAD for survey stakeouts
    • Type legal descriptions

    Salary: negotiable, depending on experience
